Mr. Van D. Brown Jr., 80, died Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006 at his residence. He was a native of Oak Grove, Fla. and a life long resident of the Century/McDavid area. He served in the U.S. Army in France where he was a tank driver. He was retired from St. Regis Paper Company and a member of Union Primitive Baptist Church in Walnut Hill. He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene Brown; his daughter, Brenda Caraway and a granddaughter, Callista White.
He is survived by his wife, Lola Brown of Century; his daughters, Linda Gunn of Century and Shelia White of Bay Minette; his brothers, Isaac Brown of Bratt, Fla. and Troy Brown and Harold Brown, both of McDavid, Fla.; 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today, Feb. 5, at 2 p.m. at Flomaton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Brown officiating. Burial will be in Little Flock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Molino, Fla. with Flomaton Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers will be Darel White, Dewayne Brown, Gerald Brown, Steven Brown, Mike Johnson and Dale Townson.
