A bizarre start to the day had perhaps an even more bizarre and frustrating finish for the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks.
JDCC's home game against Marion Military Institute Monday got moved at last minute to W.S. Neal High School when one of the backboards in the JDCC Gym shattered on a dunk attempt. No replacement backboard was available.
To make matters worse, the Warhawks then dropped a stunning 92-90 decision to Marion Military Institute.
Down 39-33 at halftime, JDCC (8-15) stormed back in the second half thanks to 21 points by Kedric Wilson. Wilson eventually wound up with a season high and career high 35.
JDCC seemed to be in control with a seven-point lead with three minutes left only to see Marion rally, tie the game at 79-79 and force overtime.
During the overtime session, the Warhawks again seemed to have things fairly secure. JDCC had a three-point lead with 15 seconds left, but MMI hit a three-pointer to tie the game, JDCC followed with a turnover and MMI scored off a long pass just before the buzzer sounded to win the game.
Free throws were one of the key items in the game. MMI was 19-for-24, while JDCC was 18-for-31.
The Warhawks host Ozark-Enterprise Thursday at 7 p.m. in an Alabama Community College Conference south division game.

Sun Chiefs edge JDCC
In a season full of frustrating losses, Saturday's 75-73 home setback to the Faulkner State Sun Chiefs probably ranks at the top of the list.
JDCC had a 34-26 lead at halftime, but 21 second half points and five three-pointers by Kyle Brown rallied the Sun Chiefs to a 69-60 lead with only 1:12 left.
Just when the Warhawks seemed to be finished, they stormed back and pulled within 74-71. JDCC thought it had tied the game when Kedric Wilson drained a shot from three-point land, but the officials ruled the edge of Wilson's sneaker was on the three-point line and relagated the bucket to two points. It also kept Faulkner State in front 74-73.
The Warhawks got one final chance. Faulkner State's Eugene Myers-Kyles, who up to that moment had hit 10 of 14 charity tosses, managed to hit only one of two attempts with five seconds left to make it 75-73.
Wilson had a chance to win it, but his three-point shot rattled in and out at the buzzer.
Four Warhawks accounted for 72 of the team's 73 points. Wilson led that list with 21 points, while Richardson had 19. Jeremy Cleveland added 17

and Jairus Jackson added 15.
