The Brewton Police Department is investigating a shooting in the city limits that left one man injured Wednesday morning.
According to Police Chief Monte McGougin, a 33-year-old black male was shot in the thigh area with a 9 mm pistol. The offender immediately turned himself in at the police department, McGougin said.
The incident occurred on Auction Street. McGougin said that an altercation between the two men occurred around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The argument continued through the next day, in which the victim “possibly” pulled a box cutter and at that time was shot by the offender, McGougin said.
Due to the ongoing investigation McGougin said he is withholding the names.
