Mr. Jerry Daniel Padgett Sr., 60, died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, in Jackson, Miss. He was a native of Weldon, N.C. and worked for Georgia Pacific Paper Mill for 38 years. He was a veteran of the war in Vietnam having served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Wahabi Shriner, Master Mason 610 of Monticello and of York Rite Brookhaven Commandry 18. He was of the Protestant faith and was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry Padgett and Dora Wells Padgett.
He is survived by his wife, Carrol Dyess Padgett of Monticello; a son, Jerry Daniel (Megan) Padgett Jr. of Tifton, Ga.; a daughter, Kimberly Ann (Richard) Carroll of Mandeville, La.; a brother, Bobby Daniel Padgett of Hampton, Va.; two half brothers, Larry Cobb and Ronnie Cobb, both of Chesapeck, Va., and five grandchildren, Allison, Tiffany, Katie, Jordon and Krysta.
Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 5, at 4 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello and graveside services were held Monday, Feb. 6, at 3:30 p.m. at Weaver's Cemetery in Brewton with Wilson Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were James Oliver, Jack Conway, Phillip Beckham, Keith Hutchins, Joseph Hutchins and Mike Clark. Honorary pallbearers were Gerald Thompkins, Greg Beckham and Johnny Hutchins.
