A contract was signed Monday between the First Presbyterian Church of Brewton and Waller Construction Co., of Andalusia, for the erection of an educational budiling adjoining the church.
Acting favorably on a suggestion made in a recent editorial in The Standard, Mayor C.C. Fountain and members of the city council are now considering seriously the employment of oneof mor policewomen to handle traffic at the schools.
Representatives of Southern Bell Telephone Co. have been making an investigation of property in Brewton which might be desirable and available for the construction of a modern building to be used in carrying out the company's projected plans for future expansion of its service.
Solicitation of funds in the 1956 Red Cross fund campaign got under way today in the residential sections of Brewton and East Brewton. Campaign organizers include Mrs. O.T. Vinson, Mrs. Troy Brannan, Mrs. Jewel Williamson, Mrs. Bert Hawk, Mrs. Vivian Kennedy, Mrs. W.N. Robers and Mrs. W.H. O'Pry.
