Brewton businessman Danny Cottrell was named the Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce's Citizen of the Year Thursday night.
Cottrell, the owner of Medical Center Pharmacy, is the past president of the Alabama Pharmacy Association and serves on the association's health task force and as its liaison for Medicaid. He is an active member of First Baptist Church, where he serves on the building and grounds committee, long-range planning committee and personnel committee. He also is a deacon and a Sunday School teacher.
Cottrell served on the Brewton City School Board for 10 years and was chairman for five of those years. He is a member and past-president of the Brewton Kiwanis Club, and chairs the organization's Blueberry Festival committee.
Cottrell, who had been told he was to introduce Jordan as citizen of the year, said he was appreciative of the honor.
