Most sports teams will agree getting to the top is not the hardest thing. It is staying at the top once it gets there.
When the T.R. Miller Tigers golf team reached the state tournament last year for the first time in 12 years, it naturally put the pressure on to get there again this season.
Experienced veteran players should make reaching those lofty goals easier to obtain. T.R. Miller, which finished sixth at last year's Class 3A state meet, returns four members from that squad and all five of its players this season are seniors.
Senior Tripp Owens has participated in the state meet in each of the last three seasons and has posted back-to-back third place individual finishes.
Tripp Owens led T.R. Miller in scoring in every meet last year except one. That exception came at the Section Meet where James Dixon rose to the top.
Brooks Fussell and Clay Parker are also carryovers from last year's lineup.
Hayes Martin, who is splitting time between golf and tennis, is the only newcomer to the squad.
