TRM takes second at WSN JV Tournament; Eagles drop three

T.R. Miller won three of four games, while W.S. Neal went 0-3-1 in Saturday's junior varsity baseball tournament played at two sites in East Brewton.
The Tigers opened play with a 3-1 win over W.S. Neal in a battle of two-hit pitching between T.R. Miller hurler James Hamric and W.S. Neal's William Shell.
Seth Holland and Will Waters both had a double to lead T.R. Miller's hitting. Jake Hodge and Jimmy Connor each had a single for the Blue Eagles.
T.R. Miller edged Escambia County 3-2 behind the pitching of Derek Busby.
Holland led the Tigers' offense with a single and a double, while Corey Williams also had a double. Mabry Cook and Christopher Griffin each had a single.
The Tigers scored all 14 of their runs in one inning in a 14-7 triumph over Monroe County.
Holland continued his torrid hitting with a homer. Hamric, who got his second win of the day, Williams and Robinson all had a double. Houston Simmons added a single.
T.R. Miller's lone loss was a 4-1 setback to tournament champ Flomaton.
Cook, Simmons and Holland all had a single for the Tigers.
John Mathieu suffered the loss.
In other games for W.S. Neal, the Blue Eagles lost to Escambia County 8-6.
Jake Smith had a three-run homer to pace the hitting, while Tyler Nall had a pair of singles. Connor and Hodge each had a single.
Jimmy Wilson suffered the loss.
Flomaton beat the Blue Eagles 11-3, as W.S. Neal's offense was limited to a double by Butts and a single by Nall.
Casey Butts was the losing pitcher.
Monroe County rallied for four runs in its final at bat to force a 10-10 tie with the Blue Eagles.
Smith ripped is second homer of the day, while Wilson, Connor, Aaron Nelson, Wesley Booker and Nall all had a single.
