Bust nets two arrrests

Agents on Wednesday seized more than $3,000 in drugs and $1,000 in cash from an Atmore man during routine patrol.
Agents from the 2st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force, along with officers from the Flomaton Police Department and the Atmore Police Department stopped Willie Frank Green II, also known as “Red,” during a routine traffic stop.
Officers recovered five grams of powder cocaine and half an ounce of crack cocaine from the vehicle. The drugs had a combined street value of about $3,500. Agents also seized more than $1,000 of cash from the suspect.
Drug Task Force agents then searched the residence of Green and Tasha M. Kirkus, located on 125 Ed Thomas Road in Atmore. Both were arrested and booked into the Escambia County Detention Center.
Green, 30, was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Kirkus, 26, was charged with conspiracy to commit a controlled substance crime.
The 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force is comprised of the following law enforcement agencies: Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore Police Department, East Brewton Police Department, Brewton Police Department, Flomaton Police Department, Escambia County District Attorney's office and the Escambia County Commission.
The Task Force receives 75 percent of its funding from a grant funded by the Bureau of Justice Affairs Division of the Untied States Department of Justice, and which is administered by the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.
The remainder of the funding is provided by the Escambia County Sheriff's Department, Atmore police Department, Brewton Police Department and the Escambia County District Attorney's office.
