The T.R. Miller Tigers have completed their 2006 football schedule with a non-region home game against the Trinity Presbyterian Wildcats in the week 10 spot Nov. 3. Game time will be 7 p.m.
Trinity Presbyterian has been one of the top teams in the state in Class 4A in recent years. The Wildcats won the state championship in 2003 and strung together a 45-game regular season winning streak. That streak was snapped last season in week five when W.S. Neal surprised Trinity Presbyterian 7-6 in Montgomery. The Wildcats finished last season 7-4 overall and lost in the opening round of the state playoffs to Thomasville 28-7.
The Trinity Presbyterian game now gives the Tigers five home games next season to go with five road games.
An example of that class Riggs referred to came in 2004 when Trinity played at W.S. Neal. The game was the first after Hurricane Ivan ravaged the area. Trinity fans brought a number of relief supplies to the area.
T.R. Miller last played Trinity in the 2000 Class 4A semifinals when the Tigers notched a 49-10 victory on their way to the state title.
The Tigers' deal with Trinity Presbyterian is a two-year contract. T.R. Miller will travel to the Montgomery school in week 10 of the 2007 season. The Tigers also have two-year deals with their other two non-region foes for the upcoming season, Clarke County and Straughn. T.R. Miller will travel to those schools in 2006. Clarke County and Straughn will return the favor and play at Brewton Municipal Stadium in 2007.
