Four members of the Jefferson Davis Community College Warhawks basketball team will be participating in the Alabama Community College Conference Showcase and All-Star Games Saturday at Shelton State College in Tuscaloosa.
Micaiah Anthony and Terren Spann will both be participating in the Showcase Game. Anthony will also be involved in the slam dunk contest. Jairus Jackson and Donovan McMullen will be participating in the All-Star game.
The Warhawks have not picked up any recruits since Saturday's opening day of the national junior college signing period.
The Warhawks are losing sophomore members Arthur Richardson, Kedric Wilson, Jairus Jackson, Micaiah Anthony, Donovan McMullen, Terren Spann, Micah McKinney and Kali Terry.
Starting next year, the ACCC Tournament champ will receive an automatic berth to the National Junior College Association Tournament in Hutchinson (Ks.). The ACCC champ has had to beat the Georgia state champ after the ACCC Tournament in order to qualify in recent years. The Georgia champ has been reassigned to play the South Carolina champ.
An increase in Division I membership in Alabama is a big reason why the ACCC champ is now getting an automatic bid to the national tournament.
