Both T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal got some strong individual performances in Tuesday's final regular season track tune-up.
The Tigers came away with eight first place marks. One of those was a school record throw of 142-0 by Laine Lucas in the javelin.
Antonio Gomez accounted for four of the wins. Gomez took the long jump at 21-5 and the triple jump at 43-0. He
also won both hurdles races with respective winning times of 14.97 in the 110 highs
and 41.2 in the 300 intermediates.
T.R. Miller's other wins were turned in by Julius Harris in the discus at 135-7, F.B. Lett in the pole vault at 8-0 and Michael Hunt in the 3200 meters at 12:42.
W.S. Neal's boys had three first place marks. Justin Howard was a double winner, as he took the high jump at 5-4 and the 400 meter dash at 54.72. Joe Bailey took top honors in the shot put at 44-7 1/2.
T.R. Miller's girls notched five first place marks. Two of those were posted by Courtney Scott, who claimed the shot put at 28-4 1/2 and the discus at 59-10 3/4. Ashley Williams took the 100 meter dash at 12.92, Amber Hall won the 1600 meters at 8:30 and Crystal Higdon prevailed in the 3200 meters at 16:21.
W.S. Neal's girls won three events. Jolesia Likely took the triple jump at 32-9 and high jump at 4-8. Tierra Andrews won the javelin at 55-5.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will compete in the Class 3A Sectional Meet, which will be held Thursday at St. Paul's High School in Mobile. Competition starts at 9 a.m.
