City officials take the oath

The newest council member sat with his peers for the first time Tuesday evening after he was administered the oath of office.
District 4 Councilman William McGhee was sworn into office by City Attorney Ed Hines. Brewton City Council members unanimously appointed McGhee during its April 11 meeting. McGhee replaced Walter O. &#8220Jake” Lewis. Lewis recommended McGhee to the City Council as his replacement.
Also sworn into office Tuesday were attorney Bill Stokes, who was nominated to serve as the new Brewton Municipal Court judge, and Pete Diurno, who will serve as the Municipal Court clerk.
The Municipal Court will be held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month, and will begin in June. The police department will be instructed to change their working date on the Friday before court.
The following dates for Municipal Court were approved by City Council members:
June 6, June 20, July 18, Aug. 1, Aug. 15, Sept. 5, Sept. 19, Oct. 3, Oct. 17, Nov. 7, Nov. 21, Dec. 5, Dec. 19.
