Escambia County officials announced Monday the Big Juniper Creek Bridge will officially open this week.
County Engineer Bill Bridges said once the striping has been set, residents will no longer have to detour into town.
The bridge has been out for several months due to the construction. Residents north of the bridge have been detouring about 3.5 miles, while residents living directly near the bridge have been detouring 3.5 miles to 9.5 miles.
Residents also had the option to use Petty Road and McGougin Road as a detour.
