E.B. drug bust nets arrests

More than 100 grams of powder cocaine and other drugs were seized by the East Brewton Police Department and other assisting officials from two individuals on Monday. One of the individuals had outstanding arrest warrants.
According to a news release, Robert Smith with the police department and Chad Emmons with the Escambia County Sheriff's Department noticed a vehicle in the parking lot of the Shell Station in East Brewton.
James Excel Hendrieth, 28, was the passenger of the vehicle, while Darin Lamar Williams, 20, was the driver of the vehicle.
Officers, who were aware of Hendrieth's outstanding warrants, conducted a search of the vehicle.
During the search, officers assisted by agents with the 21st Judicial Circuit Drug Task Force recovered more than 100 grams of powder cocaine, with an estimated street value of $10,000, Lortabs and marijuana from the vehicle.
Hendrieth of 67 Maddox Loop and Williams of 1506 Ridge Road, both Brewton addresses, were each charged with trafficking cocaine, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, second degree.
Hendrieth is being held at the Escambia County Detention Center in lieu of a $100,000 bond for his drug charge, and a $500 cash bond for failure to appear.
Williams is also being held in the detention center in lieu of a $100,000 bond and was charged with violation of probation, according to sheriff department officials.
