Wilson earns doctorate

John Wilson, formerly of Brewton, recently earned a doctorate in clinical psychology at Argosy University in Atlanta, Ga.
Since leaving the area in 1999, Wilson has been a full-time student of psychology, earning both a master's and doctorate in clinical psychology, specializing in adult clinical disorders.
In addition to rigorous graduate studies, he completed a one-year diagnostic practicum in neuropsychological assessment followed by two years of psychotherapy practica at the Georgia Tech Counseling Center.
He has performed psychological assessments for the past three years in a private practice and continues to provide free psychotherapy to indigent clients in downtown Atlanta one day per week.
Wilson completed his CCE (Clinical Competency Examination) in June 2005 and passed with distinction-a rare honor in his field.
He defended his dissertation on April 18, and has submitted his work for publication. He recently accepted a full-time position at Emory University in Atlanta to begin in July 2006.
Wilson is the son of Diane Wilson of Brewton.
