Brewton residents are about to have more choices than ever if they want a meal downtown.
One restaurant, Willie's, is already back open, and two others are in the works. A family-style restaurant is planned for the old Robbins and McGowin building, while two brothers from Crestview, Fla., are opening a Mexican restaurant in the old Down South location.
Those restaurants will join the several shops and eateries already populating our beautiful downtown area - and not a moment too soon, with the Alabama Blueberry Festival moving downtown for the first time this year.
Brewton is blessed with a beautiful, historic downtown, and these new restaurants will only make the atmosphere more lively.
It's also interesting to note that the three restaurants are owned by out-of-town residents who have discovered Brewton and believe it's the right place to start a new business. That speaks well of our reputation outside of the community - and helps bring some fresh faces and fresh ideas to our city.
We welcome these new businesses - and look forward to many meals there.
