Cubs claim Brewton Babe Ruth regular season championship

The Cubs wrapped up the regular season championship of the Brewton Babe Ruth League Tuesday when they knocked off the Rangers 12-7. The Cubs, who lost their final game of the season to the Reds 18-16 Thursday, finished with a 9-3 record. The Rangers finished one game back at 8-4.
Reds 18, Cubs 16
REDS: Wil Riggs went the distance to get the win. Riggs also had three singles and scored two runs. Jacob Cannon had a double. Josh Palmer had two singles. Mabry Cook, Ryland Dixon and Derek Smith had a single and scored two runs. Caleb Palmer had a single and a double. Caleb Smith and Christian Lodge scored two runs. Shane Thomas had a single. Tyler Godwin scored three runs.
CUBS: Robert Knowles had a single and scored three runs. Houston Simmons had two singles, a double and scored four runs. Gordon Jones had three singles and scored three runs. Corey Williams had two singles, a triple and scored three runs. Landon Sowell had two singles. Bryant Jernigan had a single.
Athletics 5, Rangers 2
ATHLETICS: Trent Robinson allowed two runs over the final five innings to get the win. Robinson struck out four and allowed four hits. Dylan Smith had a single. Tyler Cross and Trevor Diercks had a double. Sam Sharpe had two singles.
RANGERS: Aaron Nelson, Justin Payne, Michael McGaha, Paul Busby and Cody Swain had a single. Tyler Nall had two singles.
Cubs 12, Rangers 7
CUBS: Robert Knowles threw a complete game three-hitter and struck out four to get the win. Knowles also scored three runs. Houston Simmons had two singles and scored three runs. Gordon Jones had two singles. Corey Williams had three singles and scored two runs. Bryant Jernigan had two singles. Stephen Warren had a single.
RANGERS: Cody Swain scored two runs. Tyler Nall had a double and scored two runs. Blake Crosby, Devlin Crosby and William Shell had a single.
Indians 9, Athletics 3
INDIANS: James Hamric worked the first five inning, struck out 10 and allowed one hit to get the win. Hamric also had a three-run triple. Taylor Berry had a single. Grant DeFrancisco had a double. Corey Rilling had a double. Tyler Brown had two single and scored two runs. Colby Franks scored two runs. Tyson Godwin had a single.
ATHLETICS: Tyler Cross scored two runs. Sam Sharpe had two singles.
