Highway 31 lane to be closed
Beginning Thursday, the northbound lane of Highway 31 beginning at Pearl's Seafood and stopping at Colonial Bank will be closed for six weeks. Authorities ask residents who travel that portion of the highway to please seek an alternate route.
BMS band testing held this week
James Holmes, the new Brewton Middle School band director and the assistant T.R. Miller High School, will be at the BMS fifth grade beginner testing this week.
The testing will be held Thursday, June 8, and Friday, June 9.
There will be a parent meeting at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the BMS band room and student testing on Friday all day long.
Habitat seeking more volunteers
The Greater Brewton Habitat for Humanity affiliate will be hosting volunteer work days on Thursday, June 8, and Saturday, June 10, from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the 800 block on Conoley Avenue in Brewton.
Volunteers are needed for painting, washing windows and other tasks needed to complete the two houses that were started during the recent building blitz.
