Mrs. Mary L. Simmons, 70, died Wednesday, June 21, 2006, at a Santa Rosa County hospital. She was a native of Pensacola, Fla., and was a resident of Century for most of her life. She attended the Abundant Life Assembly of God Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Ervin E. Simmons Sr.; a daughter, Ervina P. Simmons; three sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by three sons, Ervin E. (Kathy) Simmons Jr. of Tampa, Fla.; Robert L. (Sabrina) Simmons of Santa Fe, Texas; and Donald W. Simmons of Pasadena, Texas; a daughter, Connie R. Whitworth of Pasadena; two sisters, Charlotte Salzer of Davisville, Fla., and Frances M. Pace of Robertsdale;13 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 23, at 10 a.m. at Abundant Life Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Jeff Dewinger officiating. Burial followed at Strickland Cemetery with Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were her grandsons, Wesley Simmons, Robert Simmons, Ruben Whitworth, Christopher Whitworth, Daniel Simmons and Jeremy Simmons.
