Mrs. Gladys Jewel Dawson “Big Mama” Faircloth, 90, died Thursday, June 29, 2006 in a Mobile medical facility after an extended illness. She was a native and former resident of Monroe County before moving to Conecuh County. She was a member of Oak Grove Holiness Church and owner/operator of Faircloth Grocery for more than 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Narvie Lee Faircloth and a daughter, Betty Jean Bradford.
She is survived by two daughters, Earline (Micky) Gray and Ivelee Baker, both of Castleberry; a sister, Leottie Smith of Castleberry; nine grandchildren, Charlene Godwin, Steve Boatwright, Hugh Bradford Jr., Bill Baker, Terrie Bradford, Linda Hanks, Lisa Ansley, Randy Bradford and Pam Harris; 13 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1, at 10 a.m. at Oak Grove Holiness Church with the Rev. David Baggett officiating. Burial followed at the church Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
