Time flies when you are having fun. At least, that is how the saying goes.
Brewton Area YMCA sports program director Chris Beasley will not argue with that after nearly a year in a role.
Beasley's work at a YMCA located in Tuscaloosa helped prepare him for his current position.
The 24-year-old Beasley, a 2000 graduate of Excel High School, has seen participation increase in all six of the Brewton Area YMCA team sports programs over the past year.
Another popular program, at least this time of the year, is swimming lessons. Lessons are available to kids as young as age 3.
One of Beasley's most challenging parts of his job has been finding coaches.
Soccer has been one of the toughest sports for Beasley to find coaches.
Beasley would like to see expansion of the current adults sports curriculum offered at the Brewton Area YMCA.
Another aspect of Beasley's job is field maintenance at the Brewton YMCA Park.
Beasley said his job has been made much easier through the advice of preceding Brewton Area YMCA sports program director Randy Salter.
