From staff reports
A new Brewton Standard will greet readers on Wednesday, July 26.
The newspaper is undergoing a redesign that will change typefaces and add new features.
Among the new features are a crossword puzzle and Soduko puzzle on Sundays, and a feature called “Your Take.”
Those photos can be dropped off at The Standard office, mailed or e-mailed to email@example.com.
In addition, readers are encouraged to submit items for “Good News,” which will run on the front page. Good News items will tout the accomplishments of local residents, from students to businesspeople.
Items can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org and should include a name, photo and description of the accomplishment.
Bean said the design of the newspaper will be more streamlined, with new typefaces and added white space to keep the newspaper better organized and make it more reader-friendly.
In addition to celebrating its new look, the newspaper will also be celebrating 100 years under its current banner, The Brewton Standard.
A special section highlighting events of the past century and illustrating how the newspaper commemorated them will be included in the July 26 edition.
To celebrate both the centennial and the redesign, The Brewton Standard will host a reception Wednesday from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the newspaper office at 407 St. Nicholas Ave.
