Brewton police were investigating a shooting Friday evening in the 200 block of Rankin Street.
Shortly before 6 p.m., police were called to the scene of the shooting in which one person was injured.
Officer Russell Pintado said the injured man, who had been hit in the leg, had already been transported to the hospital when police arrived.
The victim's identification and condition were not known as of press time.
A witness told police she had seen two men arguing - one in a car and one on foot.
After the shots, the shooter ran away - leaving a child in the back of his vehicle, the witness said.
Police do not have any identification on the shooter, Pintado said.
No other details were available Friday evening, but the incident remains under investigation.
