JDCC volleyball
to play Saturday
The Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawks volleyball team will be playing its annual 250-point match Saturday at 11 a.m. at the JDCC Gymnasium.
The event will give fans a sneak preview of the 2006 JDCC volleyball team, which kicks off its season Aug. 25 at the Southern Union Tournament.
While there is no admission charge, donations are being accepted. These funds will help cover travel and equipment expenses.
ACCC adopts play-in game for volleyball
The Alabama Community College Conference has adopted a play-in game for volleyball, which will give each of the league's nine teams a chance to play in the state tournament.
The league's top six teams qualified for state tournament play under the old format. The new format has seven automatic qualifiers. The league's eighth and ninth place teams will square off in a play-in game that will determine the final state tournament berth.
The ACCC Tournament will continue to use a double elimination bracket format. The tournament will no longer have any byes.
ACCC volleyball members include Jefferson Davis Community College, Bevill State-Fayette, Central Alabama, Faulkner State, Gadsden State, Lawson State, Northwest Shoals, Southern Union and Wallace State-Hanceville.
TRM QB Club to meet
Monday at Fieldhouse
The T.R. Miller Quarterback Club will hold its next meeting Monday at 6 p.m. at the Fieldhouse.
Date set for TRM, WSN girls phsyicals
Athletic physicals for T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal High School girls will be given Aug. 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the science wing at T.R. Miller High
School. The physicals are free.
