It did not take long for the Murder Creek Mudcats to make a quick impact.
The Mudcats, who are an age 12-and-under traveling baseball team with players from Brewton and East Brewton, took second place in the Sandlot Summer Slam Tournament played at Destin, Fla.
The Mudcats went 2-1 in pool play. That mark was good enough to qualify them a spot in the championship round where they lost to the Power Alley Sluggers out of Montgomery.
Murder Creek, which will play approximately 35 games this fall, will get its next action Sept. 10 at a tournament in Prattville.
