Since they do not play a preseason game, the T.R. Miller Tigers settle for the next best thing.
T.R. Miller held a pair of intrasquad scrimmages last week that have told a head coach Jamie Riggs and his staff a lot, as they continue preparation for the Sept. 1 season opener at Clarke County.
Riggs indicated players react different ways from practice to game-like situations.
Riggs said the first two weeks of practice is a time for unproven players to make a case for themselves.
Riggs said there have been some pleasant surprises during the early days of practice.
On the flips side, Riggs said the area his team needs to improve the most is blocking.
The T.R. Miller coach said his staff will start to focus its attention towards Clarke County later this week.
While most schools these days play a preseason game this week, Riggs said he prefers to use the week for practice.
