Mr. Arthur Charles Jerkins, 90, of Range near Repton, died Saturday, Aug. 26, 2006 in a Mobile Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Conecuh County. He was a charter member of Range Assembly of God Church and was retired from T.R. Miller Mill Company. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Jennie Lee Jerkins; two grandchildren, Lyn M. Bush and Jeffrey Allen Jerkins; one great-grandchild, Dale Owens Jr. and a son-in-law, Bentley Lamar Helms.
He is survived by four daughters, Marie Bush of Range, Dorothy J. (Bruce) Jernigan of Monroeville, Doris Owens (George) McDonald of Range and Montgomery, and Lilly Helms of Milton, Fla.; one son, Arthur Allen “Al” (Sandy) Jerkins of Fultondale; eight grandchildren, Loria (Rodney) Morgan, William Keith (Jennifer) Gardner, Diana (Greg) Beasley, Marisa (Dave) Pierce, Alan Dale (Sheila) Owens Sr., Allen Joe (Kim) Jerkins, Jamilyn (Phillip) Gorganus, Bobby Scott (Tinsey) Bullard; 10 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Range Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Willie Renfroe and the Rev. Ira Luker officiating. Burial followed at Brushy Creek Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Allen Joe Jerkins, Brandon Owens, Alan Dale Owens Sr., Rodney Morgan, Loria Morgan, Daniel Day, Bobby Scott Bullard and Darryl Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were William Keith Gardner, Greg Beasley and Dave Pierce.
