BYFL teams sweep Pace Blue in first road test

After three weeks of home cooking, all three Brewton Youth Football League teams proved they could also win on the road Saturday at Pace Blue.
The Brewton Mini Mites remained unbeaten on the season (4-0), as they downed Pace Blue 32-0.
Kellyn Winn factored into three scoring plays, as he had touchdown runs of 25 and 35 yards. Winn also hauled in a 30-yard touchdown reception from quarterback Chardian Johnson. Johnson also accounted for a score on the ground when he broke loose for a 75-yard dash to the endzone. Treylon Watson added a 35-yard touchdown run for the winners.
Clayton Turner, D'Angelo Thomas, Demontae Jenkins, Markail Mitchell and Ahmaud Taylor anchored the Mini Mites' shutout performance on defense.
The Brewton Mites improved to 3-1 on the season, as they defeated Pace Blue 26-6.
Dominique Jackson led the Mites with three touchdowns on runs of 60 and 25 yards. He also had an interception return of 60 yards for another score. Jaylon Herbert contributed a 15-yard touchdown run.
The Mites were led on defense by Christopher Carpenter, D'Andre Fraser, Michael Wood, Marquiese Thomas and McHenry Coleman.
The Brewton Midgets completed the sweep against Pace Blue with a 33-7 win.
Calvin Matthews led the Midgets (3-1) with 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Jamal Spears ran for two scores and also had 100 yards rushing.
Denzel Mallard, Shannon Edward, Darrell Smith, Tyler Stallworth and Ivory Miller paced the Midgets' effort on defense.
The Brewton teams are on the road this Saturday at Milton Gold. The Mini Mites play at 3:30 p.m. followed by the Mites at 5 p.m. and the Midgets at 6:30 p.m.
