T.R. Miller Lady Tigers volleyball coach Sharon Peacock can only hope her team performs better in its next two tournaments, the Escambia County and Area Tournaments, than they did in their first two this season.
The Lady Tigers spent a winless day at Clarke County Saturday where they dropped three straight decisions. Counting a 1-3 trip to Andalusia the week before, T.R. Miller is just 1-6 in its two tournaments so far.
The only set T.R. Miller (5-9) won came against Alabama High School Athletic Association newcomer Mobile Christian, but the Lady Tigers still dropped a 24-26, 25-14, 15-9 decision.
Shandreka Foster had a strong game at the net with 10 kills and three blocks. Leslie Nalty came up with 17 digs on defense and added an ace at serve.
Leroy downed T.R. Miller 25-14, 26-24 despite 13 points by Nalty. Morgan Hubbard added six points, two of which were aces. She also had a pair of digs and two assists. Foster added four more kills and two blocks to her day's total.
The Lady Tigers also came up short against Spanish Fort in a 25-6, 25-16 decision.
Nalty had a team best six digs on defense, while Foster added two kills. Janel McCorvey, and Michal Hubbard each had a kill.
T.R. Miller, which hosted W.S. Neal Tuesday, is also home Thursday against Flomaton. Game time for the varsity match has been moved up to 4:30 p.m. and will precede the junior varsity match.
