Alan Baker says one of his most valuable tools in his push for state representative is his 27-year coaching career.
The former T.R. Miller Tigers assistant football and head track coach said probably the biggest thing he has taken from his coaching career into his campaign has been organization.
A demanding work schedule is another item Baker has carried over from his sports background to his political campaign.
Over the years Baker, who faces incumbent Democrat Skippy White in the November general election, developed several contacts during his coaching career within his campaign area he hopes will boost his chances.
While some people may vote or against a candidate simply because of party affiliation, Baker doesn't think people will vote for or against him simply due to his ties to T.R. Miller over the years.
Baker has made several athletic stops during the campaign trail. He also does not intend to stray away from that support if he is elected.
