Parents can learn along with children
It's one of our first and most important lessons in school: the importance of sharing.
And now schools across Escambia County are trying to remind parents of that lesson with a special parent visitation day Monday.
All parents are encouraged to visit their children's school to meet their teachers and see the learning environment.
Brewton City Schools teachers will be available from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Escambia County Schools will have parent-teacher conference times from 3 to 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, individual schools have special presentations planned all day, including sessions on drug-free schools at W.S. Neal Middle School and &#8220A Day in the Life of Your Child” at W.S. Neal Elementary.
These conferences and sessions are a great opportunity for parents not only to get to know their children's teachers but to get a good idea of what their child's school day is all about. Test-taking tips, computer safety and tutoring help are just a few of the other lessons parents can learn during Parenting Day.
This statewide event is a great way to strengthen the teamwork between parents and teachers - teamwork that is necessary to help all students and all school succeed.
And with times convenient to just about every parent, we hope all who are able will take some time out of their day Monday to attend a conference or session.
Our students can't afford for you to miss it.
