A one-vehicle accident on Saturday afternoon has left a Brewton man dead, according to Alabama State Troopers.
Nathaniel Macrae Anthony, 41, was killed when his 1972 Chevrolet pick-up truck left the road and struck a tree on Blair Road, just off Travis Road shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday.
Anthony was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident, Piggott said. It was not known at the time of the accident whether or not alcohol was involved; however, Anthony was pronounced dead at the scene.
Trooper Jimmy Dean, investigator in the incident, said Anthony was known to have a medical condition but was not aware if the condition contributed to the accident in any way.
Dixonville Volunteer Fire Department, Alabama State Troopers, Escambia County Rescue Squad, and Escambia County Medical Examiner personnel responded to the accident.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Darlene Anthony of Brewton; his mother, Cindy Gayle Anthony of Brewton; three sons, Blake Anthony and Rickey Anthony, both of Brewton, and Thomas Anthony of Tampa, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Savannah Brogden of Brewton; two brothers, Mickey Anthony of Brewton and Steve Anthony of Castleberry; one sister, Angela Jaro of Brewton; and other relatives.
A visitation service, under the direction of Williams Memorial Chapel, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at Crossroad Full Gospel Church in East Brewton.
