Voting gets busier

Absentee ballots have picked up in the last several days, Escambia County Circuit Clerk Ken Taylor said Tuesday.
That pace tells him that the Nov. 7 election, which features statewide and local races, will be busy - but still will not garner the activity of the 2004 election.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the circuit clerk's office had about 150 absentee ballots. The deadline to apply for absentee voting if you are unable to make it to the polls Nov. 7 is Friday.
This year's election features several statewide races - including governor and lieutenant governor - as well as local races for state representative and state senator. County commission incumbents are running unopposed in this year's races.
The ballot includes these contested races:
