Mrs. Ethel Ree Redmon, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 28, 2006. She was a native and life-time resident of Brewton. She was a member of First Saint Siloam Baptist Church and a cook at Southern Normal High School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Redmon and four children, Willie Earl Tripp, John David McCreary, Bobbie Jean McCreary and Bernice Lyons.
She is survived by three daughters, Clara Barton (William Carter), Minnie Riley and Glennie Diane (James) Carter, all of Brewton; six stepchildren, Jesse (Phyllis) Redmon, the Rev. Dr. Marilyn Nicholson, Kenneth (Carrie) Redmon, Lorene (James) Tobias and Jeffery Redmon, all of Brewton, and Sally Redmon Boyd of New Orleans, La.; one son-in-law, Elder Willie Lyons of Brewton; two brothers, Mack A. McCreary of Birmingham and Mack Harrison of Jacksonville, Fla.; three sisters, Susie Binion and Becky McCreary of Brewton, and Rose Crosby of Buffalo, N.Y.; two sisters-in-law, Essie McCants of Brewton and Opal Dixon of Birmingham; 49 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and special friends, Rosie Williams, Ricky Jackson, Erica Cagle and Jennifer Baker, all of Brewton.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 3, at 11 a.m. at Second Saint Siloam Baptist Church with the Rev. H.B. King officiating. Burial followed at Baptist Hill Cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
