Mrs. Luverta Roberta Berta Glass, 79, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2006, in Atmore. She was a native of Citronelle, and a resident of Atmore for the past 60 years. She was owner and operator of Berta's Kitchen for 18 years. She attended the Church of The Living God and was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie Owen Glass, two sons-in-law, Harrison Sanspree and Ronnie Long and two granddaughters, Deidra Danielle Byrd and Bailey Elizabeth Bell.
She is survived by three sons, Rusty (Janet) Glass of Castleberry, David (Anita) Glass of Atmore and Dewayne H. (Brooke) Glass of Brewton; seven daughters, Barbara Ann (Terry) Dickson of Elberta, Jean Sanspree and Susanne Brown, both of Atmore, Betty Loup and Brenda (Wayne) Bell, both of Brewton, Berta (George) Strickland of Dothan, and Diane (Ronnie) Byrd of Semmes; one brother, Bill Lewis of Citronelle; a sister, Gwendola Dixon of Citronelle; 32 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Clay Lewis and the Rev. Earl Harrison officiating. Burial followed at Serenity Garden Cemetery with Petty Eastside Chapel Funeral Home directing. Pallbearers were Ron Wadkins Jr., Sandy Sanspree, Chad Morton, Paul Bell, Billy Franklin II and Trevor Glass. Honorary pallbearers were Patrick Wadkins, Brian Wadkins, Toddy Sanspree, Gerald Bell, Bobby Franklin, Levi Glass, Keith Garrett, Shone Barnhill, Michael David Glass, David B. Glass, Hunter Phillips, Terry Dickson, Wayne Bell, George Strickland and Ronnie Byrd.
