Mrs. Virginia B. &#8220Jennie” Salter, 68, died Friday, Nov. 17, 2006, in a Pensacola healthcare facility. She was a native of Newport News, Va., and had lived in the East Brewton area most of her life. She was a teacher's aide and served as a cheerleader sponsor at W.S. Neal School for 25 years. She was a member of Cedar Hill Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, Coach David E. Salter.
She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Salter of Loganville, Ga.; one brother, Neal Bullock of Greenville, N.C.; and four sisters, Jan Doran of Milton, Fla., Peggy Gilliam of Leesburg, Va., Shirley Nichols of Tarboro, N.C. and Linda Hoggard of Robersonville, N.C.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. at W.S. Neal High School Auditorium with the Rev. Danny Benjamin officiating. Burial followed at Union Cemetery with Craver's Funeral Home directing.
