Mrs. Dorothy Juanita Nelson, 79, died Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006, at a local hospital. She was a native of McDavid, Fla., and a resident of Century for the past 59 years. She was a member of Beulah Chapel Assembly of God. She was a retired nurse from Jay Hospital with 33 years of service and she was preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey J. Nelson and a son, James Aubrey Nelson.
She is survived by a son, Keith (Debbie) Nelson of Jay, Fla.; a daughter, Linda Nelson Lee of Century; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Nelson of Jay; a sister, Louise Gilley of Cantonment, Fla.; six grandchildren, Ricky Nelson, Kim Nelson, Jake Nelson, Jamie Nelson, Josh Lee and Greg Nelson; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Shelton Kindig officiating.
Burial followed at Cora Cemetery in Jay, with Petty Eastside directing. Pallbearers were Ron Gilley, Ronnie gilley, John White, Lloyd Barrow, Lavon Little and Reggie Burkett. Honorary pallbearers were Rex Goodson, Hughie Jernigan, Alton Robbins and Melvin Johnson.
