Looking for a good way to help your dog or cat celebrate Christmas with you?
The Escambia County Humane Society has a fun opportunity this weekend. Just bring your pet to the humane society shelter on South Boulevard, and you can get your pet's photo taken with Santa Claus beginning at 8 a.m. each day.
The cost of the photos - just $5 each - will help fund the programs the Humane Society uses to help find homes for dogs and cats. The photos are a great way to celebrate Christmas and to help our local humane society.
One of the programs the humane society uses is Love Waggin, which transports puppies to Florida, where they have larger facilities and greater opportunities for adoption.
It's also important to note that if you're planning on giving a pet as a gift for Christmas this year, please be careful. Adopting any animal is a big decision, as they deserve just the right love and care. The wrong decision could send that pet right back to the animal shelter. In fact, the Escambia County Humane Society chooses to use gift certificates rather than adopting out any &#8220gift” animals.
As we all look to enjoy a happy holiday season, it's important to remember all of God's creatures, great and small.
