Hope Place Director Vicki Fussell considers the family resource center a place to make connections in the community.
Hope Place offers a variety of services to the Brewton area, from parenting classes and marriage courses to after-school tutoring and job training.
And one of the sources of funding for those projects is United Fund, an umbrella fund-raising organization for 14 area agencies. United Fund is currently in the middle of its annual campaign.
Hope Place, one of only 12 family resource centers in the state that is part of a network of such centers, offers services beyond its programs, Fussell said.
For example, community members may ask Hope Place to help serve individual needs for families beyond the classes that are offered, she said - such as connecting individuals to other agencies that can help them pay bills.
To make a contribution to benefit Hope Place and other organizations in Brewton and East Brewton, make checks payable to United Fund of Brewton and East Brewton. Mail contributions to P.O. Box 34, Brewton, AL 36427, or talk to your employer.
Currently the United Fund contribution indicator is at just under $50,000 with an annual goal of $90,000. The donation period will continue through mid-January.
