Monroe County, Excel, Mobile Christian post day three wins

Monroe County, Mobile Christian and Excel joined champion J.F. Shields in the winners circle on the final day of the Bank of Brewton Tournament.
Monroe County topped Northview 53-44 for third place, Mobile Christian ran past Jay 51-25 for the consolation championship and Excel edged Flomaton 43-42 for the consolation third place.

Monroe County pulled away from Northview, Fla., in the third quarter to down the Chiefs 53-44 for third place.
Northview (5-7) led 15-9 through one period and the game was tied at 23-23 at halftime before the Tigers (8-5) went on a decisive 19-9 run in the third quarter.
Joseph Edwards led Monroe County with 11 points, while Johmantae Poindexter added nine.
Northview's Nakitah Myles led all scorers for the game with 19 points and for the tournament with 72.

Consolation championship
Mobile Christian 51, Jay 25
Mobile Christian came away with the consolation championship in its first Bank of Brewton Tournament appearance with a dominant 51-25 win over the Jay, Fla. Royals.
Jay (6-7) led 8-7 after one quarter, but the Leopards (11-6) began the second quarter with a 16-0 run and never looked back. Mobile Christian outscored the Royals 37-9 over the second and third quarters.
Courtnee Edgar paced the Leopards with 16 points,

Consolation third place
Excel 43, Flomaton 42
Marcus Anderson's two free throws with 49 seconds left lifted the Excel Panthers to a 43-42 win over Class 2A Area 1 rival Flomaton.
It was the second straight one-point loss for the Hurricanes (8-5), who fell to Mobile Christian by the same margin in the consolation semifinals. It was also the second straight game Flomaton missed a shot at the buzzer that would have won the game, as Scott Walton's attempt from out front fell short.
Steven Brown tallied 11 points to lead Excel (5-10), while DeArco Anderson added 10. Walton led all scorers with 12.
