William Thomas Lowery

Mr. William Thomas Lowery, 83, of Ridge Road, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, at a Pensacola hospital after an extended illness. He was a native of Santa Rosa County, Fla., and a resident of Brewton since 1948. He owned and operated Bill Lowery Auto Supply in Jay, Fla., for 30 years, was a former volunteer for Jay Fire Department and a former member of the Ridge Road Volunteer Fire Department. At the time of his death he was employed as a security guard at D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital, where he had been for the past six years. He was a member of Ridge Road Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran serving in World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Idelle Lowery of Brewton; three sons, Michael (Sue) Lowery of Uriah, Joel (Carla) Lowery of Milton, Fla., and John Dana (Vanessa) Lowery of Brewton; nine grandchildren, Sherri Lowery Weaver, Alan Lowery, Shane Lowery, Rhonda Lowery Strength, Jennifer Lowery Smith, Sara Lowery, Will Lowery, Patrick Lowery and Katie Lowery; and 10 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 13, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Cadenhead officiating. Burial followed at Fort Crawford Cemetery with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
