Mrs. Jessie Lee Ryals Janes, 87, of Appleton Road, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2007, in a Mobile medical facility after a brief illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Conecuh County. She was a homemaker and a member of Oak Grove Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John Wilton Janes.
She is survived by five sons, Hubert Janes, Donald “Sue” Janes and Devon Janes, all of Evergreen, Woodrow “Woody” Janes of Castleberry and Michael Janes of Lenox; four daughters, Sharon (Larry) Laster of Castleberry, Jean Crosby and Mary Odom, both of Brewton, and Frances (William) Smith of Mobile; five sisters, Ola Mae Emmons of Mobile, Mavis Robinson of Repton, Madie Janes of Castleberry, Myrtlene Odom of Brewton and Doris Odom of Jay, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Harris and the Rev. David Baggett officiating. Burial followed at Oak Grove Holiness Church Cemetery in Castleberry with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
