Blaine Hathcock's first spring training as W.S. Neal Blue Eagles football coach featured practice in May and a scrimmage game against an opposing school. His second spring training was held in February and ended with an intrasquad game.
Hathcock apparently likes the year two format better, as he will use that schedule again for this year's spring training.
W.S. Neal is tentatively scheduled to begin practice Monday, Feb. 5. The Blue Eagles will practice five days that week, five days the following week and conclude spring work with an intrasquad scrimmage game on Thursday, Feb. 22. The schedule gives W.S. Neal 14 days of practice, one less than the maximum number allowed by the Alabama High School Athletic Association.
Hathcock said there are a few schedule overlaps regardless when spring training is held.
Hathcock said another consideration is time for injury recovery.
Hathcock said the intrasquad scrimmage game is best for his team this year.
