Brewton Police Officer David Mathis said he was just doing his job Monday morning when he saved the life of a Brewton resident.
Police Chief Monte McGougin praised Mathis at Tuesday's city council meeting for his quick action in giving CPR to an elderly woman during a police call.
Mathis, who has been on the job just since September, said he was previously in the military.
