Sandy Knowles may be welcoming a new Wal-Mart Supercenter more than most Brewton residents.
Knowles lives on part of the land that will be used for the new building, and she couldn't be more pleased.
For other residents, news that the retail giant will build a 184,000-square foot Supercenter on U.S. 31 North is cause for cautious optimism and a little concern.
Medical Center Pharmacy owner Danny Cottrell said he is not concerned about a new pharmacy in town.
Tom Henderson agreed with Cottrell.
Lois Crenshaw said the new store doesn't make much difference to her.
Don Ausburn said the new jobs will help the community. &#8220I think it will hurt some of the stores in town, but I guess it will add a few jobs,” he said.
Buddy Crenshaw said he believes the store will be a benefit to shoppers. &#8220These superstores are good,” Crenshaw said. &#8220You can shop there after regular hours, and that is a real benefit for some of us.”
