Mr. Thomas &#8220Tom” Lowe Skinner Jr., 70, died Feb. 6, 2007. He was a native of St. Louis, Mo. He attended college at University of Missouri in Columbia. He began work at Hussman Refrigeration and retired as senior engineer in 2001 after 36 years with Monsanto Company. He was a former resident of St. Louis, Mo., Springfield, Mass., Pensacola, Fla., and Decatur. He resided at Dixie and was of the Christian faith. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, a contributor to Post-Polio Health International and president and founder of neighborhood watch groups.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Louise Mehrtens Skinner of Andalusia; two sons, Thomas Lowe (Susan Elder) Skinner III of Pensacola and Todd Alan (Sharon Regan) Skinner of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; one brother, William Charles Skinner of St. Peters, Fla.; one brother-in-law, Frank Louis Mehrtens of High Ridge, Mo.; and four grandsons, Thomas Lowe IV, Samuel Frederic Skinner, William Scott Skinner and Gordon Kendal Skinner.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 2 p.m. at Pine Terrace Baptist Church in Milton, Fla., with Dr. Michael Wiggins officiating. A second memorial service will be held Sunday, Feb. 18, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Andalusia, with Bro. Fred Kelly officiating and Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
