Tickets for the Brewton Songwriters Festival are selling well, organizers said this week.
Local and Nashville-based talent are among the acts scheduled to perform at the all-day festival, which begins at 11 a.m. at Burnt Corn Creek Park.
In December, the Quality of Life Committee held auditions for local singers and songwriters, and more than a dozen are planning to perform at the Songwriters Festival. In addition, many recording artists with local ties - including Hank Adam Locklin, Grayson Capps and Rusty Golden - will perform.
In addition to the music, the festival will feature artwork for sale, children's activities, food vendors and a Harley ride-in.
The concerts will kick off with local student Victoria Creamer singing selections from the family favorite Disney movie &#8220High School Musical.” Ruzic said children will be encouraged to come to the front of the stage during Creamer's songs.
Many of the Nashville artists will sign autographs and sell CDs under a tent. &#8220They'll be very accessible,” Ruzic said.
The committee is hoping rain does not dampen the festivities. &#8220If it's a terrible day” the festival will move inside to the National Guard Armory, but that decision won't be made until Friday, Ruzic said.
Proceeds from the event will benefit improvements to Burnt Corn Creek Park, including an outdoor theater and splash fountain.
Tickets are available at NDI's Cracked Pot, JusDo, Book &Bean and the chamber of commerce office in Brewton. Tickets for the all-day event are $20 for adults; $10 for seniors 55 and older and for students age 5 to 18; and $50 for families (immediate only). Children ages 4 and under will be admitted free.
From 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., a silent auction will be held to benefit the park.
The performers' schedule includes: 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Performers include Victoria Creamer, Brandon Patterson, Carolyn Grice, Timeless, Carolyn Caraway, Michael Gardner, Emmy Granade, Alex Granade, Tamarah, Shane Harrell, Kerry McCall, Josh Pugh, Chris Johnson, Jack Long, Buddy Bell and Band, Den of Thieves and Brian Lisenby; 3:30 to 9 p.m., Jayron Weaver, Bobby Pinson, Rusty Golden, Jerry Salley, Carl Jackson, Larry Cordle, Grayson Capps &The Stumpknockers, and Hank Adam Locklin Jr.
