Mr. Arthur Douglas Carden, 63, of Wolf Log Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at a local nursing home after an extended illness. He was a native of Brewton and a long time resident of Flomaton. He was a retired insurance representative with Western Southern and Mutual Savings. He was a member of the Friendship Freewill Baptist Church and an original member of the gospel group, The Cardens. He was preceded in death by his father, Nathaniel Carden; his mother, Katie Courtney; and his sister, Elizabeth Burnham.
He is survived by his wife, Ruth Baggett Carden of Flomaton; two sons, Tony Carden of Brunswick, Ga., and Rich (Jennifer) Carden of Atmore; one brother, Chuck (Maggie) Carden of Atmore; four grandchildren, Aaron Carden, Elizabeth Carden, Reece Carden and Cameron Carden; two nephews and three nieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Feb. 24, at 11 a.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Henderson officiating. Burial followed at Baggett's Chapel Cemetery in Baggett's Chapel community, in Conecuh County, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
