Raines lands position
on Super-State Team
T.R. Miller Tigers senior shortstop Baxley Raines has been selected to Alabama Top Prospects Preseason Super-State Second Team.
Raines, who also pitches for the Tigers, was a Class 3A All-State Honorable Mention selection last season when he hit .463 with 13 doubles, two triples and a school record eight homeruns. Raines also drove in 31 runs and was a perfect six-for-six in stolen bases attempts. Raines has already signed with Troy University.
Sixteen players were selected to the First Team, while 18 more were selected to the Second Team.
TRM softball draws Leroy at Thomasville
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers softball team will kick off play at the Thomasville Tournament Saturday with a 10:30 a.m. contest against Leroy.
T.R. Miller will be back in action at 12 noon against the winner/loser of the Jackson/Excel game.
Sweetwater, Monroe County and host Thomasville are also competing in the tournament.
Brewton Babe Ruth sets registration information
The Brewton Babe Ruth League will be accepting registration for the upcoming season March 6 and March 8 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the T.R. Miller Fieldhouse.
Applications are in the process of being sent to returning players. New and incoming players can pick up applications in the office at W.S. Neal Middle and High School, Brewton Middle School and T.R. Miller High School.
Registration cost is $10. Players should bring a copy of their birth certificate at the time of registration. The league is for players age 13-15.
